Prayer

This piece of writing is about the fact that a prayer, no matter how short or uninteresting, is always heard by God in heaven, provided it comes from the heart. God is always listening when we say a prayer.

 All men pray.
The good, the bad- they all pray.
 We all pray.
 In the dead of night,
 In the day's bright,
 We pray......... for sustenance,
We pray for His loving countenance,
 His goodness and mercies,
For happiness greater than the abundant seas,
And all things fun and nice,
 Knowing we pay no price.

 But the questions still remain-
 Must a man, himself detain
In his closet for many hungry days
 When he to heaven prays
 For a salary handsome,
 For his prayer's ransom?

 Must the knees crouch,
 And the ground touch
 Before God our Father
 Shall unto us answer?
No!! A prayer doesn't have to be just right.
It doesn't have to be after a plight.

All it must do is come from the heart.
A prayer can be a chat.
A prayer can be a "Thank you".
A prayer can be "I love you".
A prayer can be "God loves you".
A prayer can be "You are blest"
And a prayer can be "You always come first".

As sure as there is God,
You, with Him, share a bond,
 And He is always listening
 Whenever you start praying.

I shall not want

This is a common  scriptural text used by most to pray. I just decided to write it because it came to me as one of the most touching and thought-provoking piece of writing  in the Bible. Just read it as you would any poem, and you would see what I mean.

 The LORD is my shepherd;
 I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
He leadeth me beside the still waters.
 He restoreth my soul:
He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
 I will fear no evil:
 For thou art with me;
Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Thou prepareth a table before me in the presence of mine enemies:
 Thou annointest my head with oil;
 My cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days of my life:
And I will dwell in the house of the LORD
 Forever.
No matter what anybody will say to you, you are blessed. The Lord is your shepherd. That should tell you something. Jesus is the Good Shepherd. His flock never hunger nor thirst, nor want. The Lord is your shepherd. - Andy

Mother to Son

This  poem was originally written by Langston Hughes. He wrote it in typical black-American, uneducated lingo. I just changed the grammar, that's all. I hope you'll enjoy it.

Well, son, I'll tell you:
Life for me hasn't been no crystal stair.
 It's had tacks in it,
 And splinters,
 And boards turned up,
And places with no carpet on the floor-
 Bare.
 But all the time,
 I have been a-climbing on,
 And reaching landings,
 And turning corners,
And sometimes going in the dark.
So boy, don't you turn back.
Don't you sit down on your steps
Because you find it kind of hard.
 Don't you fall now-
For I am still going, honey,
 I am still climbing,
And life for me hasn't been no crystal stair.
People of mediocre ability sometimes achieve outstanding success because they don't know when to quit. Most men succeed because they are determined to. - George E. Allen
I don't think there is any other quality so essential to success of any kind as the quality of perseverance. It overcomes almost everything, even nature. - John D. Rockefeller
Success seems to be connected with action. Successful men keep moving. They make mistakes, but they don't quit. -Conrad Hilton
The horizon is out there somewhere, and you just keep chasing it, looking for it, and working for it. - Bob Dole

Pay as little attention to discouragement as possible. Plough ahead as a steamer does, rough or smooth- rain or shine. To carry your cargo and make your port is the point. - Maltbie D. B.

Love Beauty

The earth is a testament of God's love.
The love that we all must have.
 The magnificence of the mountains.
 The majesty of the fountains.
The grace of birds in flight.
The sparkling radiance of pearls in light.
The lavish quaintness of roses blossoming in morning dew.
The riveting colour of the rainbow hue.

 These God's artistery reveal.
His brush, the stoke of which births a marvel.
Out of it's stroke, love is born.
Out of His love brush broke mankind's dawn.
From His fountain pen of love are we all, all things authored.
From His love are we all fathered.

 Therefore love must we show.
 Kindness must we know.
For the darkhearted, we must bring light.
We must banish his darkness with the light of our love; we must change his plight.
For the hopeless we must give certain faith.
We must overcast his unbelief with the galloping clouds of our love faith.
For the world we must reveal beauty.
We must let the sun of the love of God shine mighty.

The very earth is a testament of God's love.
The love that we already in us have.
God created us out of His love, and wants us to give out the same love to all around us. We are all physical embodiments of God's love-we are made of love. That is why we must show love.Look at the beauty of the earth; the greenry of the trees; the sweet fragrance of flowers. Aren't they beautiful? Yes they are. They portray the beauty of God's love for us all.                                                                                                                       - Andy

True love

It is my wish that this poem will be read before I say my vows on my wedding day. It is about love. I hope you will enjoy it.

Love is beauty itself.
Love is kind.
Love is compassionate.
Love is understanding.
Love is forgiving.
Love is long-suffering.
Love sees good in all things.

Love is never jealous.
Love is never envious.
Love is never bitter.
Love is never hateful.
Love is never baleful.
Love never regrets.
Love never focuses on the bad times. It only dwells on the wonderful shared moments, and basks in their beauty.

Love holds on to hope when there is none.
Love brings joy when there is nothing to share but sadness and pain.
Love soothes hurt emotions and numbs grief.
Love brings happiness.
Love brings inner peace.
Love brings oneness.

Love offers everything and more, and asks for nothing in return.
Love is good.
Love is God.
God is love.
Love is everything.
If you have it [love], you don't need to have anything else, and if you don't have it, it doesn't matter much what else you have.                - Sir James M. Barrie
Love doesn't make the world go round. Love is what makes the ride worthwhile.                                                                                       - Franklin P. Jones
True love comes quietly, without banners or flashing lights. If you hear bells, get your ears checked.                                                  - Erich Segal
I have found the paradox that if I love until it hurts, then there is no hurt, but only more love.                                                                       - Mother Teresa
Love talked about can be easily turned aside, but love demonstrated is irresistible.                                                                                       - W. Stanley Mooneyham
People need loving the most when they deserve it the least. -Mary Crowley
It is more important to care about people than it is just to care for them.                                                        -Zig Ziglar
People don't care how much you know until they know how much you care about them.                                                                             - Zig Ziglar
True love is not just a feeling you have for someone once, and then stop feeling when that person starts to put you off, reject you and treat you like dirt. Love is an unrelenting, unending desire and determination to do something thoughtful and affectionate for and to another, even though that person throws it in your face and rejects you constantly. True love is God. He loves you and gives you life everyday, even though you reject Him daily.        - FIREPROOF
True love is beauty itself; because true beauty is not seen but felt.       -Andy

Friends

Who is that person who knows you well,
But likes you anyway?
Who is that person who knows the music of your soul,
And sings it back to you when you forget the words of the song?
A friend.
A friend is someone we turn to
When our spirit needs a lift.
A friend is someone we treasure,
For his friendship is a cherished gift.
A friend is someone who fills our life with bliss
And makes the world we live in a happier place.
A friend is the wind beneath our wings when we fly high in the sky.
A friend is the wind within our sail when we float on the vasty sea.
People come into our lives for a reason, a season or a lifetime.
When you figure out which it is, you know exactly what to do.
Many people walk into and out of our lives
But only true friends leave indelible footprints in our hearts.
Fate makes our relatives, choice makes our friends. - Jacques De Lille
You can make more friends in two months by becoming more interested in people than  you can make in two years by trying to get people interested in you. - Dale Carnegie
No man is an island. - John Donne
Like cells in the human body, we are only healthy- spiritually, emotionally, and physically -when we are doing our part, squeezed right up next to those we can help and who can help us.                 - Zig Ziglar
The person who tries to live alone will not succeed as a human being. His heart withers if it does not answer to another heart. His mind shrinks away if he hears only the echoes of his own thoughts and finds no other inspiration. - Pearl Buck
Who is a  friend? What is a friend? A unique single soul dwelling in two seperate individual bodies. - Andy

After a good fight

This poem is about life and the fact that tough times pass away just as  all things do and will do. It is about one of life's truths, " times change." Enjoy it.

After a good fight, there is a crown earned.
After every tough struggle, there is rest.
After every war there is peace.
  After darkness, there is light.
After every night, there is a bright day.
After every rain, there is shine.
After every storm, there is calm.
These portray a natural sequence in the system of things.
  No situation is permanent.
After every trial and tribulation you go through, there shall be joy.
After every moment of confusion and disquietude, there shall be peace.
After every curse there shall be immeasurable blessing.
After every challenge and trouble you go through, there shall be unending happiness for you.
Your true beginning shall come when it seems all things good are ending for you.
To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven; a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; a time to kill, and a time heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and time to dance; a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; a time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; a time to rend, and time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; a time to love, and a time to hate; a time to hate, and a time hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.         - Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

Conquer!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually this is my first post on this blog. I have decided to write only my poems and other poems I love on this blog. I will also write quotations relating to my posts on this blog. Well, to my first post. It is about persistence and strong determination. I actually wrote it after watching a movie starring Will Smith entitled " pursuit of happyness." I hope you love it.
  Scale every hurdle.
  Scale every height.
  Weather every raging storm.
  Tread upon every roaring tide.
  Surpass every challenge.
  Overcome every obstacle.
   Traverse every stumbling block.
   Conquer!!!

Do not succumb to the scorching heat of life's vicissitudes on your back.
Even when they seem to weigh you down, keep your head above water.
Smile and keep moving on, don't stop keeping on.
When there seems to be no way, create your own path.
When there seems to be no hope, hang on to your abundant belief in God.
Just never say never. Persist, do not give up.

Never give up until you give the spirit up.
When you fall down, get right back up and try again. Once you have life you still have hope.
When your life seems to be all gloomy and dark, let that flicker of  God's light guide you through the tunnel.
    Fight to the end.
    Conquer!!!
Keep moving on when the world, even life itself says, " STOP ".
Failure is the path of least persistence.  - Zig Ziglar
Success is no more than moving from one failure to the next with undiminished enthusiasm.  -Winston Churchill
Never give in, never give in, never, never, never, never- in nothing, great or small, large or petty- never give in except to convictions of honour and good sense. - Winston Churchill
